BBC, Pakistan; "if my work doesn’t make the viewer uncomfortable then what is the point? I could have done this in a gallery or just painted on a visual. But I see this as an artist state of emergency. My current practice is an urgency given the state of this country and how we are surviving it everyday rather than really living it. There’s a sad extreme narrative to this sensory percept. But think about all the lives that are tormented on daily basis because of lack of justice, equality and mental health. We are throwing these words around without really putting our solutions into effect. Women are raped, murdered and tortured and I’m not even saying it has everything  to do with their gender yet they are crucified for speaking up even, we are killing humanity really. I’m an advocate of mental health and solutions. If my work upsets you, I’m glad it does. This isn’t a sentimental work, it is an urgency. That is why I put it up. For every bystander, every sham piety and mentally ill person to see how it results. For the law to do what it fails to do. It is for the common man to be held accountable for their actions. Why is women’s right still the most pervasive human rights challenge even now after so many lives lost, mentally or physically."
